Love and Marriage

In the case of urban community there are huge numbers of marriages that come from true affection and love as opposed to arranged marriages. Not to mention there has been an increased number of inter-caste marriages and interracial marriages, this is due to the fact that people are more in touch with other cultures due to the close proximity, the culture and ethnicity lines have been blurred and diluted.

This is one of the most beautiful things about urban culture, the fact that it is acceptable for people to marry whom they love; they can chose that they want to be with for the rest of their lives. Of course, where there is good there is bad, just like where there is pleasure there must be pain. Due to the fact that marriages are so common, some people get married for the wrong reasons. Not including the ceremony the process of getting married is quite a simple task. And so you will also come across a great number of divorce cases. This is common practice in today’s society as it is said fifty percent of all marriages end in divorce (now that says a lot about our generation) – that shows that there is a very good chance of divorce hitting you at home, yet another aspect of the culture we live in.

With the cross pollination of so many different cultures and religions, sons and daughters enjoy a considerable amount of freedom in choosing their life partners, as opposed to when living outside of the urban life. This can be seen as a victory for all those who want to find love for themselves and not have to be ashamed about whom they chose to marry, this is the benefit of urban living and should be seen as a beacon for urban culture.
